FAQ
What days should I plan on being in town?
The wedding festivities will take place starting the night of Thursday, August 6th through the afternoon of Sunday, August 9th. We recommend taking a day or few on either side to enjoy yourself.
Which airport should I fly into?
There are two primary routes to travel to Santa Margherita from the US. You can either choose to fly through Amsterdam, Rome, or Munich and fly directly to Genoa from which you will drive about 45 minutes to Santa Margherita. Alternatively, you can choose to fly to Milan (direct from NY or single connection from LA) and drive 2 hours to Santa Margherita.
How should I get from the airport to Santa Margherita?
You can find plenty of car rental options from both Milan and Genoa airports. Additionally, if you would like to carpool with other guests, please indicate your interest in being added to the WhatsApp group on the Save the Date for coordination. Alternatively, there are trains available from Milan and Genoa to Santa Margarita and taxis from both the train station and Genoa airport to your hotel. Once in Santa Margherita, the best way to get around is via taxi and it’s most common for locals to get around by scooter and on foot.
Where do you recommend I stay?
Grand Hotel Miramare ★★★★★ A beautiful classic modern Italian hotel where the wedding party is staying. Directly across from the sea with a pool. Easy walk to town center. Private beach club and upscale amenities. $1,100+ euros/night Hotel Metropole ★★★★ Very nice hotel in a great location. The hotel has several buildings all near each other. They have a wonderful view of the sea and the town of Santa Margherita. Close to town and not as much of a hill as some of the other choices. They have a small pool and their own private beach. $450+ euros/night Hotel Continental ★★★★ The rooms are nice and most are ocean facing. It is a larger hotel with private beach all in its own compound. Pool access is a bit weird — as it’s tied to the health club and an additional charge. The most American of the hotels, including a new gym. It is on a 200 yard hill, slightly South of town, but can be walked. Not all of the rooms are renovated – so check when setting your accommodations. $560+ euros/night Hotel Minerva ★★★ Cute, funky hotel that Erika and Matthew have enjoyed staying in previously, just a short walk from the main town in Santa Margherita. It’s a ~20 room hotel owned by a young brother and sister who are very kind and accommodating. Light on the amenities but very nice staff and a delicious included organic breakfast that’s served in the courtyard of the hotel. $280+ euros/night Hotel Tigullio Et de Milan ★★★ Very nice Italian small boutique hotel located above the town square; more in the immediate neighborhood a bit away from the hustle and bustle of it all.. Rooms are very nice and functional. Nice seating area and hot tub on roof. If you are worried about space, suite rooms are a suggestion. Their sister hotel is Hotel Jolando; which is similar and also good — we just liked Tigullio better. $250+ euros/night Lastly, there are some great Airbnb options in the neighborhood!
Is this a kid friendly wedding?
The wedding will be adults only, as much as we love your children. If you would like to bring your children to Italy and make a family trip out of the journey, we would be happy to have them at the other events.
What should I do if I’m not yet certain that I can attend?
We understand that we are asking a lot of our guests, and we appreciate you even considering making the journey! If you are on the fence about attending at this point, we request that you indicate that you are considering coming on the Save the Date.
Will there be more information about the events and dress code?
Yes, much more info will be coming soon on this website and in a formal invitation to come! Please provide your response on the Save the Date and we’ll follow up with additional information.
